AM I ELIGIBLE TO STUDY FOR THE DipTESOL?
Yes, if you already have a first degree or equivalent, a Cert TESOL or CELTA or equivalent, plus a minimum of one year's full-time ESOL teaching experience which is recent. You may also be eligible if you have considerable experience, but no formal qualification. Please ask.

ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE - IS THIS A PROBLEM?
 If English is not your first language, you need to supply us with proof of your competence in English - for example IELTS band 8 or above; Certificate of Proficiency in English, or equivalent.

HOW WILL THE DipTESOL BENEFIT ME?
The Diploma is designed to encourage reflective skills based on previous and ongoing experience in the classroom. You will be considered fully qualified by the British Council, as the qualification is rated at level 7 of the National Qualifications Framework. Your skills and experience will be such that you are able to pass them on to less experienced teachers.

WHAT WILL THE STUDY INVOLVE?
We'll set you two main inputs every week. One will be on Language Awareness (grammar or phonology); the other will be on teaching and learning. These may take you between 6 and 10 hours to read and complete. In addition, you will have three research projects to conduct and write up, and your teaching practice to prepare for. At the end of each 6-week block, however there will be a 'buffer' week, which will give you space to catch up if you need to. We also plan two-week breaks at Easter and Christmas.

MUST I ENTER FOR ALL THE PARTS OF THE EXAMINATION AT THE SAME TIME?      
No. You may take the four Units separately, but within a period of three years from your first entry. The written examination will normally take place after the practical examinations, to allow you time for revision and examination practice.
